EVALUATION: Question 3

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
Whilst conducting research within my pre-production process of my magazine, I came across different institutions which I think would be likely to distribute my final music magazine. The main institution that I think may publish my music magazine are NBM Publishing Ltd. The reason why I this is because of the fact that they focus on the music industry and they have already published well established music magazines. An example of one of these being Echoes. This is a music magazine which focuses on jazz, hip-hop, R&B and aspects of Reggae. This magazine is very similar to my own with regards to the genres which it focuses on as mine centres around Reggae and R&B, therefore the themes match perfectly.

As well as this, the company are a very small and intimate group of around 1-10 employees. Due to this fact Echoes is only distributed once a month. This is very suitable as I aim to have my magazine on a monthly subscription so by using NBM Publishing Ltd. I am adhering to all my needs and wants.

Final Double Spread Article

The final design for the double spread article. There are a number of things that I find positive about this page. One of them being the fact that I have used the colours which link to my genre that have also been evident throughout the entire magazine. I believe that I have presented them in a way that they all tie in well together despite being such contrasting colours. As well as this, I have used my research which I found initially to ensure that I have used all of the correct and relevant features of a double spread article.

Also, I made the decision to change the design of the double spread article because I did not think my initial ideas worked well with how I wanted the interview and the artist to be presented. As well as this, the style of my original double spread article created a feeling of cramming and being unorganised. With the double spread article that ended up being the final product I feel that there is not too much going on and each side of the double spread has what it needs without any unnecessary extras that would make the page appear messy or unprofessional.

Final Contents Page

Here is the finished contents page of my magazine, I have decided to put my own 'twist' on a typical contents page with the use of more colours, social media tags, a note from the editor etc. Each aspect has its own stamp in different ways so there is no one aspect which overpowers another. As well as this, I have also decided to use to artists on the contents page as oppose to one so my magazine stays with its unique feel.

Final Front Cover

After a series of different processes using different programmes and spending a lot of time of deciding what looks well and what the best outcome would be, this is the finished version of the front cover of my music magazine. I have incorporated all of the colours which were necessary with regards to my chosen genres along with the most appropriate sized image and what image went best with the music magazine.
I have used the correct magazine conventions which I thought were appropriate, i.e. a headline, a magazine name, a bar code etc.
