Preliminary: Feedback on Preliminary

Following creating my magazine I received numerous amounts of feedback from a variety of people who told me what they liked and what they think was effective and the opposing side of what they disliked and what they would have changed about the magazine.
Some of the positive feedback explained their appreciation for the topics which were included e.g. "We don't really get told about how to deal with handling exams, we just get taught the topics so this would really come in handy to have". They also said that the image used on the front cover was very effective: "He just looks like he is doing typically doing what we all do daily so it looks less staged."
As well as this,  individuals said that they found the name of the magazine (SIXTH FORM INSIDER) very appropriate and memorable for future recognition. Another positive bit of feedback which I received on my magazine was the fact that they found that the front page and the contents page flowed well into one another. They said that this was done using the images, for example the image in the bottom left hand corner of the contents and page and the image on the front page both lack a background which corresponds well with each other- in a nutshell the front cover and the contents page do not look like they are from completely different magazines altogether.

On the other hand there were some comments of feedback expressing how they felt that the colours used for the fonts on the front cover didn't blend very well in with the style of the front cover: "I'm not really sure what it is but I just feel that less bold colours would have worked better than the ones used. And the red font is too close to his tie which is the same colour." People also said that the contents page would look better if the images used were slightly faded so as not to take emphasis from the actual topics- "The only thing I would change are the images on there because it just overpowers the page" Also, one of the members of the class explained that they thought that the name of the magazine could have been larger in comparison to other professionally produced magazines as they felt that the size of the font for the name of the magazine was to similar to the headline so they found it hard to differentiate between the two.

Preliminary: My Own Front Cover Analysis

I am very happy with my final front cover for my magazine as I think I have kept it simple but it does what it is supposed to do. I have used a mid shot which is the suitable image needed for the front cover. The name of the magazine is included, being the largest font and simple so it is not overpowering but it is evident. The front cover includes a title, what is included and the image.
I think the most effective aspect of my front page is the image as it fits perfectly and is very accurate for what I am trying to show within my magazine. I am happy with all the different fonts which I have used and the size of all of them.

Preliminary: My Own Contents Page Analysis

I like the contents page which I have managed to produce as I think the pictures which I have used are very suitable for the topics which I have decided to include in my magazine and I also think they resinate well with the audience as the students in the images are doing what regular students would be doing i.e. studying, research and revising. As well as this, I have kept my contents page easy to follow and simple to understand. I think that the font I have chosen is simple yet effective and not overbearing for those who read it. All of the images which I have included are ones which I have taken myself and edited in order to make sure that they suit the topic and are appropriate for my magazine.

Preliminary: Questionnaire for Preliminary

In order to ensure that I produced the most effective magazine which connected with my target audience I conducted a questionnaire to find out what appealed to my audience. The questionnaire allowed me to have an insight to figure out what the audience struggled with within college; what they would like to see in a magazine; how much they would be willing to spend on one and whether they would in fact purchase one.
By conducting this questionnaire I was able to produce an appropriate magazine and no time was wasted in the production of it as I knew exactly what to include and what my audience wanted.
